What is it?
: HCID Combat Glove
The lowdown
: Personal, wireless, wearable interactive technology. For now, the Handwear Computer Input Device combat glove allows soldiers in the field to communicate and access important data without a word—and without ever taking their hands off their weapons. Thin, flexible force sensors embedded within the glove recognize single-hand gestures, and allow soldiers to access devices like two-way radios and wearable computers. For example, simply moving a few fingers triggers video cues of maps, bearings, and key locations on a helmet-mounted eyepiece display, while the soldier’s trigger finger stays put. The device also allows soldiers to input commands into their computers using intuitive hand gestures. The sensors and the supporting technology are fully integrated into the fabric, so it maintains the look and feel of a traditional soldier’s glove. Huge possibilities in the event space.
